Attic Insulation

Attic insulation is extremely important in controlling the energy efficiency of your home. Without proper insulation installation, maintaining proper temperature control in your home is extremely difficult. Advance Roofing, Windows, Siding & Doors uses the innovative AttiCat machine from Owens Corning, which evenly spreads the insulation at the recommended depth, so there are no bare spots or areas where the insulation is heaped up.

Owens Corning AttiCat Insulation

We use the Owens Corning AttiCat Insulation Blowing Machine for all attic insulation jobs  because it is quick, clean, reliable and, most importantly, safe. The AttiCat injects tiny air bubbles into the insulating material as it is blown in, increasing the insulating power. The AttiCat also increases safety by reducing the amount of physical contact with the insulation.

The attic is one of the most important areas of your home to keep properly insulated. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends up to R-49 for attics in most areas. This is equivalent to approximately 16″ of Fiberglas blanket insulation. Older homes may only have 3-6″ of insulation in the attic.

To determine how much insulation your attic may need, you must first determine the current R-Value. To determine R-Value simply measure the thickness of your attic’s existing insulation with a ruler and multiply by 3.14. Once you have determined your attics Insulation current R-Value, refer to the chart below to see what the Department of Energy recommends for your area of the country.
